Rebuilding the front section

The front area of my car was completely devastated. The wheelarches were perforated, the lower front panel vanished, the crossmember underneath the radiator was only existing in fragments and the upper front panel was perforated and dented.

Again the decision was to cut out all corroded parts before sandblasting. I was hoping to find some healthy structure to start the rebuild on a sound basis.

Crossmember after sandblasting. After cutting out the remains I welded a new spare part into place.

The units to accept the front lamps were in good condition so was the structure underneath the upper front panel.

Front panel (8662 bytes) Upper front panel is original Alfa spare-part.I was very lucky to trace one. The right wing is a very good used part.

At that time I was still desperately looking for a left wing.

After years of search I traced this wing. It is a replica but  fits perfectly.

All sections of the car which are forming cavities after assembly of the panels were painted in white. This makes a frequent check for rust protection easier.
